This ought to create some discussion... or not. I'm about to talk about myself a bit. Some may find it interesting...or not. Anyway... In my search for the perfect career I've had a small sack of gold dropped in my lap. It seems that since I was part of a layoff last year that affected more than 100 people, I'm qualified for the National Emergency Grant. In English, that means that by means of an apology for screwing up my life, the Gubmint has decided to give me $10,000 to learn a new skill. I need to decide on a path - I've decided not to do the technology track only because I don't believe that those jobs will ever have any kind of longevity in this country again. Technical writing is a nice idea and I've made strides toward learning that but those jobs are getting less and less as well. So now, I'm looking into the medical field...the next question is what to study - Lab Technician, X-Ray Tech, Radiology Tech... don't know, really. That's the next step: talk to a career counselor so that the money I already earned that I'm getting back is not ill-spent. With three major hospitals within 10 miles of home it seems a logical choice. Another interesting thing... most of you know that I was once in the ministry and walked away from it, angrily, after less than a year and stayed angry about it for the better part of a decade. Well, I think a lot of that had to do with the organization I was affiliated with - very two-dimensional people, very arrogant, and all just a little loopy. Well, not only have I been involved with a church for these past two years that has gone miles to undo all that old damage and relieve me of all sorts of baggage, I believe I've also found an organization where I'll be able to fit in like a hand-in-glove. I don't intend to ever go into full-time ministry again but being affiliated with an organization will make it easier for me to do more than I am right now. In short, I will be applying for licensing shortly and will eventually become ordained. I'm in no rush for that since I'm mot planning on pastoring but there are loads of other things an ordained minister can do besides pastor a church..I intend to try some of them out. Anyone who's interested in what organization turned me around can check out www.ccccusa.org at their leisure. Oh, I'm really really really looking forward to Alter Bridge. Stapp's out, Marshall's back... talk about things that make ya go, "hrrrmmm...." ----- Original Message ----- From: "]\\[][G}{T§TÖ®]v[" To: Sent: Friday, May 07, 2004 3:39 PM Subject: [ Creed Discuss ] News From Michigan (And General) _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list Discuss@creedlisters.com http://lists.creedlisters.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
